When you hear about the #SeychellesIslands you just fall into a day dream of our amazing pristine white sandy beaches, our turquoise clear oceans, our abundance of marine life in the most exotic colours or our intense green scenery of lush tropical forests and gentle swaying coconut palms. Yes, it is a true paradise a garden of Eden but will it survive the destruction of climate change. I am deeply concerned for our country's existence and my feelings are not alone. Our President James Michel has talked of
climate change as the greatest threat of our time. If the industrialised countries continue on their destructed path of continuously emitting gas that effects our ozone layer which in turns causes global warming and melting of polar areas - We will disappear under the ocean. It was reported and posted to Chalets d Anse Forbans facebook page that 2014 has been the hottest year on record. HELP this is a real threat to our existence what can we do to STOP this.
In the #Seychellesislands one of our local artists and composer has written a song in aid of increasing awareness for the cause of
Small Island States (Sids).
Please read it and share it we need to be heard ....
We are beautiful
My grandmother the artist
Left me paintings of her Seychelles Isles
Of Virgin coastlines
Fishermen casting nets
Of unique birds, wild flowers
Seashells, colourful fish
Banana, papaya
Moon on the lagoon
A portrait of my father playing dominoes
In the shade of a breadfruit tree
Her paintings of life
Like an endless dream
Are still tattooed in my mind
Chorus
We are beautiful
Islands like jewels and pearls
Shining in the crown of the earth
We are beautiful
Joyful and hopeful in harmony
We are calling to the world
My grandfather had a dream
Left me his poems
Of island cultures and traditions
About the power of Nature
The special things our islands had
Like our emblems once untouched
Fragile or forever gone with change
We are the islands
United with strong voices
We are the last seeds of hope
Grandpa wrote
Climate change is closing in
Let’s get ready
Oh let’s get ready
Where do we run when the water comes in?
Still we keep our hopes up high
The world is an island
From the Seychelles to the Samoa
Hear our voices across the seas.
