UPI, Credit and debit cards accepted in Seychelles

Are you planning on a holiday to the Seychelles islands? How will you pay for bills in the Seychelles? Are you wondering if your credit ,debit card or UPI card will work? 

In Seychelles Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards are widely accepted. All Seychelles establishments will also accept cash in major currencies. They will also accept payment in local currency*. You can also use many of the foreign exchange bureaus within the banks or the independent sellers found around Victoria or at the Seychelles International airport. Do shop as they could offer better deals!! We would advise you to check on American Express cards as they are are not that widely accepted in the Seychelles. The latest development with the increase on the Asian Tourism market in the Seychelles is the acceptance of the Union Pay International (UPI) cards.  The Mauritius Commercial Bank (Seychelles) Limited (MCB) is the first bank in Seychelles to accept the UPI card.

UPI cards will be accepted at all MCB ATMs and Point of Sale terminals, giving the UPI cardholder access to over 600 payment gateways throughout the islands and gives MCB merchants access to a card which has the largest cardholder base in the world with over 300 member institutions worldwide. UPI cards are accepted in over 140 countries.

We welcome such a development and hope all the banks will follow shortly.
