Seychelles Plants- Aloe Vera

The Aloe Vera plant is commonly seen in most Gardens in the Seychelles Islands. It is a hardy and enjoys warmer climates.

The first mention of the Aloe Vera is in an Egyptian papyrus dated 1500BC. The Legend suggests that  Alexander the Great conquered the Socotra*  island in the Indian Ocean to secure supplies of Aloes to treat the battle wounds of his soldiers.
*Socotra is part of the Republic of Yemen and is a small archipelago of four islands in the Indian Ocean. The largest island, also called Socotra, is about 95% of the landmass of the archipelago. It lies some 240 kilometres east of the Horn of Africa and 380 kilometres south of the Arabian Peninsula. The island is very isolated and a third of its plant life is found nowhere else on the planet. It has been described as the most alien-looking place on Earth.
