August 15th 2011 see the celebration of the "Feast of the Assumption," on La Digue island Seychelles.
The feast is very popular in the Seychelles and attracts both locals and tourists to the island which is always buzzing with much excitement during this period. The feast is spread over a couple of days and tends to finish late in the evening.
The main day of celebrations is on the 15th August with mass at "La Grotto" which is attended by the Bishop of Seychelles. Once the mass is finished it is traditional for a procession
through the lanes of La Digue to St. Mary’s Church.
Lafet La Digue is an amazing event for tourist to see the traditional life styles of the Creole People from the Seychelles. If you are holidaying in the Seychelles do try to get to La Digue island to experience the amazing Feast of Assumption on La Digue Island.
